The History of the Swing Street Little Big Band

The Swing Street Little Big Band was born in Chicago in the late 1970s when drummer-vocalist Tom Bernett was working with the Les Waverly Orchestra. Les was proud of his "singing drummer" and had some special arrangements written to feature Tom's vocals. Then, in the early 80s, Tom moved to Minneapolis and started his own band. As a going-away gift, Les gave Tom those original 18 arrangements.

From those few early arrangements, the band's library has now grown to more than 500 'charts' that include: all-time favorite classics from the nostalgic big band era; exciting charts from today's contemporary big bands; pop and rock hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s; hot jump swing and jive, sultry latin rhythms, and plenty of Carolina Beach Music thrown in for good measure.

The Swing Street library also features great Rat Pack tunes from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr; as well as Bobby Darin classics; and of course some recent hits from Michael Buble'........... Sinatra to Santana; Big Band to Blues; Cozy Cole to Kool and the Gang; Jump Jive to Al Jarreau... the Swing Street Little Big Band plays something for everyone.
